CONTACT Announces Change in Leadership
CONTACT is sorry to announce that current Executive Director, Lianne Picot is leaving the organization as of April 15, 2011, to take on the role of Executive Director at Future Possibilities for Kids, an organization offering mentoring support for children and youth across central and southwestern Ontario.
Over the past five years, Lianne’s vision and inspired leadership has been the driving force in creating an organization that is recognized for its outstanding and progressive community services.
To build on its already significant success, CONTACT has appointed two Co-Executive Directors. This new and innovative shared leadership structure is reflective of CONTACT’s commitment to creating a culture of collaboration and partnership within the organization and in our community.
Sandra Mawby will take on the role of Co-Executive Director of Services and Development.
Liz Beattie will take on the role of Co-Executive Director of Operations.

ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge
ChangeTheWorld – Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge is a call to action for youth aged 14 to 18 years to volunteer through a wide variety of exciting community initiatives. The goal is to inspire youth to volunteer in our communities, develop new skills, and broaden their awareness of community service organizations. This year, 21 volunteer centres are participating across Ontario and we hope to, once again, surpass the goal of 10,000 youth volunteering for a minimum of three hours over the three weeks.
CONTACT’s Volunteer South Simcoe and The Blue Frog Café and Marketplace have organized some amazing ChangeTheWorld Events that you can get involved in:
What? Wii Super Smash Bros Brawl Tournament – $5 registration fee with all proceeds going to the Canadian Red Cross Japan Earthquake/Asia-Pacific Tsunami relief
When? Wednesday April 27th, 2011 – 5 pm to 8 pm
Where? The Blue Frog Café and Marketplace, 41 Victoria Street East, Alliston
What? Flashmob Mega Workout to promote community wellness and physical activity
When? Thursday April 28th, 2011 – 3 pm to 6 pm
Where? Town Square, 39 Victoria Street East, Alliston
What? FrogFest – a youth-driven arts festival showcasing the very best in artistic talents that youth in our community have to offer!

Jump Up & Celebrate Local Youth Talent at FrogFest!
Everyone is invited to FrogFest on Sunday, May 1, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alliston Memorial Arena, 49 Nelson Street West, Alliston.
FrogFest is a youth-driven arts festival showcasing the very best in artistic talents that youth in our community have to offer!
Local youth artists will include painters, photographers, musicians, knitters, potters, fashion designers, and many others.
There will also be face painting, colouring contests, and tasty treats for the whole family to enjoy!
FrogFest is part of the ChangeTheWorld: Ontario Youth Volunteer Challenge and is presented by The Blue Frog Café and Marketplace, a youth volunteer led café that is open to everyone in the community.
Operated by CONTACT, a nonprofit registered charity, The Blue Frog provides local youth a space to socialize, get involved with youth programs and events, gain “real world” work experience in the food service and retail industry, and access support to develop their own business.
Tickets are: Adults/Seniors $10, Youth (Ages 13 – 20) $5, Children (Age 12 & under) FREE!
