CONTACT launches The Global Kitchen
CONTACT Community Services is excited to announce that thanks to funding received from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, seniors in New Tecumseth and surrounding areas will have an opportunity to become more involved in their community and share valuable life skills and knowledge.
The Global Kitchen is a fun, free, and informal cooking club that will bring together local and newcomer seniors to share cooking techniques, culinary traditions and international recipes.
For seniors interested in learning more about The Global Kitchen, an Information Session is being held
on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 10 a.m.
at CONTACT Community Services, 39 Victoria Street East, Alliston, 2nd Floor Conference Room.

The Clothes Line Spring Fashion Show
Do you have a passion for fashion? Are you a savvy shopper looking for some stylish spring wear? Well you won’t want to miss The Clothes Line Spring Fashion Show on Sunday, May 5th, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kingsmere Retirement Suites, 287 King St S, Alliston.
Sponsored by Kingsmere Retirement Suites, the Fashion Show will showcase a selection of women’s, men’s and children’s fashions that can be found at The Clothes Line, CONTACT’s non-profit thrift store located in downtown Alliston.
If you’ve never shopped at The Clothes Line, you may be surprised by the great deals you can find on fabulous second hand fashions for the whole family. The Clothes Line offers a great selection of good quality used clothing and accessories, including many brand name labels, all at affordable prices.
The highlight of the show is the amazing volunteer models. The roster includes volunteers and staff, friends and family, loyal customers and local community members.
There will be light refreshments served and door prizes will be awarded.

The Clothes Line End of Winter Sale!
Spring is just around the corner and The Clothes Line, our friendly neighbourhood thrift store in Alliston is holding their annual End of Winter Sale from Friday, March 15th to Saturday, March 23rd, 2013.
From Friday March 15th to Tuesday, March 19th, all Winter Clothing (including footwear and purses) is
50% OFF!
Then from Wednesday,
March 20th to Saturday, March 23rd, drop by the store for the End of Winter Bag Sale where you can stuff a bag full of winter clothing (including shoes and purses) for only $5.00!
To get ready for their spring/summer merchandise, The Clothes Line will be closing at 2 p.m. on Saturday March 23rd and will reopen on Monday, March 25th with their new spring/summer line. Make sure to drop by and check out all the great deals!

CONTACT is excited to announce that we have received an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant of $213,900 over four years to hire a full-time Fundraising and Communications Coordinator. This grant will allow us to enhance our fundraising capacity, diversify our revenue base, and increase community awareness of our organization throughout South Simcoe.
With a dedicated staff member committed to developing and implementing a much needed fundraising and communications plan, we hope to enhance the organization’s ability to raise funds so that we can continue to effectively provide services and support to people living in South Simcoe.

CONTACT’s 8th Annual Coats for Kids Drive
Help Keep A Child Warm This Winter!
With the cold weather fast approaching, CONTACT and The Clothes Line are asking the community to help keep a child warm this winter by donating to its annual Coats for Kids Drive.
Starting October 15 and running till October 31, donations of good quality, new or gently used children’s coats, hats, scarves, and mittens can be dropped off at The Clothes Line, 55 Victoria Street West, Alliston.
Please note that donations will only be accepted during regular store hours
(Mon. to Thu. 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Fri. 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sat 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and must be clearly marked as a “Coats for Kids” donation. Store volunteers and staff will be available to accept donations for the Drive.
For those in need of children’s winter clothing, donated items will be available for pick up at The Clothes Line from November 1 to November 15, during regular store hours.
CONTACT and The Clothes Line hopes that everyone will join them in making a difference in the community by ensuring that every child has a warm coat to wear during the cold winter months.

For all you bargain hunters, the Bag Sale is where you can stuff a bag full of all regular stock summer clothing (including shoes and purses) for only $5!
Shoppers will be given special bags when they enter the store and then the fun begins!
The Clothes Line will be closing at 2 p.m. on Saturday September 22nd and will reopen on Monday, September 24 with their new fall and winter line.

CONTACT’s Annual General Meeting
Members of the public are invited to attend CONTACT South Simcoe Community Information Centre’s Annual General Meeting.

The purpose of the meeting is:
1) To receive the consolidated financial statements of the organization for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012 together with the auditor’s report therein
2) To elect the directors of the organization for the ensuing year
3) To appoint the auditors of the organization
4) To transact such other business as may properly come before the meeting or any adjournment thereof
